Today, we were able to work with Sunday Friends to lead an exercise routine for a group of young children, encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle. Our goal was to show how easy and fun getting active can be with no equipment necessary! We loved spending time with the kids and enjoyed being infected by their contagious energy! Thank you to Sunday Friends and the executive director, Mr. Barekat, for allowing us this opportunity.

Over winter break, we handed out blankets to those less fortunate on Union Square. These blankets were generously donated by members of the community. Those who received blankets were extremely grateful, and we were grateful to have been able to put a smile on their faces during the holidays.
Through money raised by the bake sale, as well as donations from the community, Project Connect was honored to be able to donate an array of school supplies to Sunday Friends, an organization that "empowers families to break the generational cycle of poverty by fostering positive development in children while educating and guiding parents to support their children's life success". School supplies include colored pencils, markers, mechanical pencils, composition books, binders, crayons, scissors, pencil sharpeners, pencil pouches, and more!
The last two days, we held a bake sale in order to raise funds for our upcoming projects. In the past, we would pay for expenses out of pocket, such as for the care packages. As we are unable to do this over a long period of time, we will need to reply on generous donations from the community in order to be able to cover various expenses.
On March 18, we dropped off 150 cans we collected from generous community members at Sunnyvale Community Center. These cans will be distributed to those less fortunate. Every can counted and we are so thankful to be have been able to help others.
Our next event will be donating canned food goods to Sunnyvale Community Center! Local neighbors and community members have graciously donated nonperishable food items to PC and we will be dropping them off to the Sunnyvale Community Center shortly.
Have an idea for a project? Email us, fill out the contact form (under the contact tab), or fill out the survey on the home page! Until next time, PC Crew Today we went to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford to drop off our bags of books and $100 in monetary donations, as well as the $80 we acquired online. As a recap, we had gone door to door asking for new/gently used books as well as monetary donations. We would like to thank everyone who donated a million times over- we had so much fun doing this and made a huge impact on the lives of many children who now have books to read while they are in a difficult situation. Additionally, the money will go toward funding research and resources for the Children's Heart Center. As we said, we had an amazing experience through this project and it really made a difference. A huge thank you to our supporters, Ms. Slagel at LPCH and the kids who are so incredibly strong. We will announce our next project very soon :) Update:
We have collected 5 bags of cans, many books and around $200 in monetary donations thus far! The cans will be donated to Sunnyvale Community Center, while the money will be given to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford, and the books will be disinfected and donated to LPCH as well. We are so excited to see the total result of everyone's generous donation! Thank you to our donors- without your support and trust, we would never have been able to make the change we did. Now, a few more kids will have books to read on their scary stay at the hospital. Now, a few more people will have food to eat. And now, a few more lives have been touched. Thank you again, and we will be announcing our next project shortly!
On 1/2/16, we went to StandUp for Kids Silicon Valley, a shelter that provides resources for homeless children in the Bay Area. We dropped off care packages we had made that consisted of toothbrushes, deodorant, granola bars, fruit snacks, and gum. These resources will go to teens and children in need of these resources! This was our first project of many more to come - a great start to 2016.
